I've spent three decades inside the machinery of leadership as a technology executive, a Big Five country managing partner, and a media and fintech CEO. The same question followed me across every role: why do some leaders make the impossible routine while others, equally capable, never do?

Alongside all of it, I’ve been an academic researcher and a professor teaching the frameworks, reading the research, sitting on both sides of the classroom. The longer I taught, the more visible the gap became: between what we know about leadership and what extraordinary leaders actually build.

That gap is what this book is about. What’s seen and unseen. The thing behind the thing.

I guess in everything I've tried to do in life it's been about trying to make the jump to light speed.
